Our Statement of Purpose

The purpose of the Midland Park United Church is to provide an inclusive fellowship of persons who have and who are finding faith in Jesus Christ; who worship and work together within a supporting and loving concern, reaching out to help
bring God’s message to the community and to the world in which we live.

History

Methodism was founded by the Rev. John Wesley in eighteenth century England. His concern was not to create a new denomination, but to bring the Christian message to working people who had been overlooked by the established churches. In America, Methodism grew primarily in urban areas and small towns that were served by no other church.

Methodism in Midland Park is over 214 years old. We are the oldest congregation in the township, having worshiped on this site since 1802.  They began by meeting in each others homes, then built a log cabin.  The existing church building has been remodeled and enlarged over the years. The Church and the Borough of Midland Park jointly maintain the historic cemetery.

About our Pastor

Born in Korea, Pastor Kyu Tae Pak is a graduate of Methodist Theological Seminary
and served at the Seo Cho Central Methodist Church in Seoul. After arriving in the United States, he graduated from Union Theological Seminary in NYC
and studied at Drew University in Madison, NJ.

Reverend Pak has led our congregation for 11 years now!!  He is a devoted pastor to our missions and to each and every one of us and our families.  Most importantly he is so full of Love for God that it spills all over us!  We are truly blessed!
