Ash Wednesday Services begin at 6:00 pm with a simple meal of soup and bread. (You do not have to attend the meal to receive ashes.)
At 7:00pm the we will meet in the Sanctuary. We will make a list of our transgressions, pray for forgiveness and burn the lists. These ashes will be used for the Imposition of Ashes.
This visible sign is a way of saying “I have sinned and I am sorry.”
Lent is a time for contemplating our sinfulness and the fact that we are mortal. Although we are aware of these two facts all year long, we take these particular 40 days because they lead to Easter. Easter, when Jesus died to wash away our sins and bring us eternal life!
