We are in the month of July, half of 2018 has already passed. Six month ago we started our spiritual journey of 2018 with our church motto, “Let us transform the World.” This is based on Romans 12:2, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God — what is good and acceptable and perfect.” How was your journey this first half of the year?
MPUMC received lots of blessings along with many changes. I really appreciate all of you who have worked hard to live a new life to transform the world. You have done so many good works for the glory of God. We all know that there were many challenges during the first half of this year but our gracious God helped us to get to where we are in our journey together. When we faced trials we prayed together. When God gave us triumphs we all rejoiced. Praise the Lord!
Now we have just started the second half of this year. I want to encourage you to keep up the good works until the end of this year. There will be obstacles in our future that will bring us doubts and worries but let us stay centered with faith in our Lord. We are transformers. We are following not our will but God’s will to transform the world.
I want to suggest two things. The first one is to be quick to listen and slow to speak (James 1:19). We need to listen to God and His people before we speak and do something. If we listen for God’s voice carefully before we take actions in our everyday lives you and I will become different people.
Secondly, I want us to do new things that we didn’t do before for God’s kingdom. Even though we all like to say “change” not many people are willing try to do something new that they had never done before. Because doing new things is not comfortable. What if God wants us to do new things to transform this world? Why not?
Transformation begins with us. Love you in Christ, Kyu Tae
