It was a beautiful morning at my son’s house . A great day to be outdoors. He had left to take the dogs for a walk and I opted to sit outside by the pool. It was a while before I heard my son calling for me asking where I was. I told him, “I’m sitting over here on the other side of the pool.” We normally sit on the side by the deck where there is a beautiful garden and comfortable furniture. I told him that I never sat on the other side and wanted to see how it looked from there.
When I said “other side” suddenly the thought came to me of that little story regarding the tapestry. How God is weaving a tapestry of our life. Woven in ALL colors of thread – some in bright sunny colors and some dark deep colors. The sunny threads representing times of joy, good health and peace while the dark threads times of turmoil, sickness and sorrow.
I thought about how we can only see the underside of that tapestry. The ends of the threads and the knots are not very pretty and do not make sense as we cannot see any design. But we know that on the other side there is a beautiful tapestry, a beautiful picture.
And so it is that God asks us to live by faith – not by sight. To trust Him in ALL the colors of our life. To remember He is in control and He is the one to make something beautiful of our life. To know that dark and light are necessary so God can grow us in our faith and in an intimate relationship with Him.
When I get to Heaven I will ask God to sit with me and show me the beautiful tapestry of my life. Then I shall thank Him for all He brought into my life and allowed in my life so He could weave something so beautiful.
