When someone asks you this question, what would be your answer? ―What is faith?‖
You may think that Hebrew 11:1, ―Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen‖ could be a good answer.
I agree with you. But what if
the person who asks ‗What is faith?‘ doesn‘t know who God is? It is hard to explain about faith to the people who don‘t know God. What is faith? I want to say two things to answer this question.
First, I think that the question ‗what is faith?‘ is asking us about our relationship with God. If you don‘t know who God is, it is hard to have a relationship with God. If you don‘t have any relationship with God, you can‘t believe that God is alive. I believe faith comes mysteriously when you choose to believe in God. When you believe that God is
alive, faith becomes a real thing. Secondly, I think that question is also asking how much you trust God. If you know God and if you have a relationship with God, you come to trust God. Then the next thing is ‗How much do you trust God?‘ Unfortunately some Christians who say that they trust God but they trust themselves more than God in real life.
What is faith? The Book of James tells us that ―for just as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is also dead.‖ (2:26) If you can say ‗yes‘ to the question, ‗Do you know who God is?‘, it shows that you have a relationship with God. This means that you have faith and you are trusting God. Then do something for God. Your actions are your answers to the question, ―what is faith?‖. It doesn‘t matter if you don‘t have much money or if you don‘t have enough talent. If you trust God who is almighty and do something for God, you will see how faith works, you will see how God works for you. Do something with prayer, this is faith.
Love and blessings,
